Advanced Tools

Check this setting to enable a few of our more technical or seldom-used tools. They will be color-coded like so.

Map Settings

Select an image from your hard drive and define its Width or DPI (advanced tool).

This will manage the print dimensions and grid size of your map, but the latter can be tweaked later on.

Does your printer require a white border? Most do! Make sure that your Overlap exceeds the width of this margin so that you do not end up with gaps.

Select a map from your hard drive.

Map Width (inches)

The grid will be scaled according to this setting.

Map DPI (Dots Per Inch)

As an alternative to setting the Map Width, you can define its DPI (or PPI) here and we will calculate the width for you.

Generally speaking, a DPI of 150 or more is required for a crisp printed image.

Overlap (inches)

This setting will add a margin to each page which repeats the image on its neighboring page(s).

Once printed you can overlap these margins, making it easier to create a composite map without obvious seams.

Important! If your printer lacks a 'borderless' print mode, you must use this setting to at least offset the margins enforced by your printer.

Paper Settings

Choose your page size and layout.

These must match the settings you enter into your print dialogue in order for your map to print completely and to scale.

Paper Size

Be absolutely sure that this matches the actual paper in your printer and the setting in your print dialog, otherwise your map will not print properly.

Paper Orientation

Changing this setting may reduce the number of pages required to print your map.

Grid Settings

Select and tweak a grid from our collection to overlay on top of your map.

Depending on your browser, it may not be visible until you click on a page preview and zoom in.

Printing something else? Just set Grid Type to Gridless!

Though a 1 inch grid might be standard, playing at a smaller scale is a great way to save paper!

Ready to print? Click on the page previews to the right and follow the prompts!
